EXCLUSIVE: Avril Lavigne’s former Malibu home is on the market for $14.5 million, nearly double the price she sold it for just two years ago

Musician Avril LavigneThe former Malibu mansion is back on the market just two years after selling it to a new buyer – who is asking a whopping $14.5 million for the home, almost double what they paid for the house in 2023.
Lavigne, 41, purchased the California blufftop estate in 2020 for $7.8 million. But just three years later, the “Complicated” singer was ready to say “goodbye” to the picturesque abode and put it on the market for just a hair under $12 million.
Although she found a buyer within a few months, the hitmaker took quite a hit in the sale, which closed at $8.3 million, a significant discount from her original asking price.
Now the home’s newest owner is ready to try his luck by making a tidy profit on the four-bedroom property that spans 3,455 square feet and sits on a 30,000-square-foot lot with “incredible unobstructed ocean views,” according to the listing.
Although evidence of Lavigne occupying the home has long been removed, there are hints at the property’s famous legacy in the ad, which touts the home’s incredible privacy.

The single-story home features a minimalist design and luxurious touches, including the panoramic ocean views, which can be seen from the great room.
Details include wide glass doors, wood floors, exposed beam ceilings, custom cabinetry and a floor plan that encourages indoor/outdoor living.
The home is “extremely private and located behind gates on a 30,000 square foot lot, located on the highly sought after Zuma Beach Bluff,” according to the listing.
It offers “stunning interior spaces with expansive walls of glass, expansive outdoor patios, an entertainment pool and spa all overlooking the sand overlooking the whitewater of Zuma Beach.”
The ocean view great room features a large sitting area with fireplace, a chef’s kitchen with a breakfast bar and built-in desk, and an open dining area with views of the Pacific Ocean.
A primary suite also faces the ocean and features a vaulted ceiling, luxurious bathroom and outdoor access. The custom-made walk-in closet is equipped with an escalator.
The chef’s kitchen features a large island, state-of-the-art appliances and all-white cabinetry. The open space flows into the cozy living room, which has several seating areas.
Other benefits include a temperature-controlled wine cellar, infrared sauna and a two-car garage with an adjoining guesthouse with a large suite and bathroom, perfect for staff or longer-term guests.

The half-acre property has picturesque private grounds and the upper patio features a fire pit, dining and seating areas and a built-in BBQ island.
The lower pool terrace features patio plants, a lawn and a charming gate.
Lavigne owned the home for just a few years before selling it, which was the latest in a series of real estate deals she’s been involved in throughout her glittering career in the spotlight.
Before purchasing her Malibu residence, the singer had made multiple attempts to vacate a European-style mansion in Sherman Oaks, CA, that she purchased with her ex-husband. Chad Kroegersinger of Nickel back.
The couple bought the palatial property in 2015 for $5.99 million, just months before they split. The home hit the market in 2018 with an optimistic price tag of $8 million. The following year, demand dropped to $7.5 million, and after several more discounts, the house finally sold for $5 million in 2019.
Previously, Lavigne owned a Bel-Air mansion that she purchased with her first husband. Deryck Whibley. After divorcing in 2010, the two put their posh estate up for sale in 2011 for $9.5 million.
The Canadian pop star sold the house to NBA star Chris Paul in 2012 for $8.5 million. After Paul was traded out of LA, he sold the house, which he now reportedly owns Michael and Fariba Radthe parents of the founder of Tinder, Sean Rad.
