It’s not just University of Notre Dame football fans who are HOT about the criticism of the College Football Playoff… people around the program are angry, including the former Fighting Irish star turned team announcer, Ryan Harris!
“I think I want to check their Bitcoin accounts. I want to see their cryptocurrency wallets to see what actually went into the decision making. This has all the horse trading images on it,” Harris told me. TMZ Sports on Monday, clearly still angry about what transpired on Sunday.
FYI: Harris, who started at tackle in South Bend for four years between 2003 and 2006, did not single out any specific committee members or provide evidence that anything untoward happened during the process.
But you get the idea…he’s not happy that Notre Dame isn’t one of the dozens of teams left.
“The best twelve teams in college football are not competing for a national championship,” Harris said. “You already see it with some lines in the games that are going to be played. Double-digit lines, sometimes three-touchdown scores over a team.”
Alabama and Miami took the field…for Notre Dame.
After being left out, ND opted to skip playing in a non-CFP bowl game… a move that created a firestorm of criticism around the sport.
Harris says that’s nonsense, pointing out that no parent “would want to risk their child’s livelihood and future, especially in the NIL era, for a game to appease the people who didn’t want to see Notre Dame play in the College Football Playoff anyway.”
As angry as he is with the CFB committee – and the ACC – Harris acknowledges that ND could have avoided the situation they ultimately found themselves in by winning.
“Notre Dame also has a responsibility here. You play the ball a little more often against Miami than before Jeremiyah Love If you’re running back and have to win the Heisman, you’ll probably win that game,” Ryan told us.
“If you don’t go for it in the second half on fourth down against Texas A&M at home, you’ll probably win that game,” before pointing out that the team had made improvements and gotten stronger as the season went on, putting them in a great position to potentially win a natty.
Check out the full interview with Harris, who knows the Notre Dame football team better than anyone, and he’s not shy about calling things like he sees them!
