Everything Lucas Bravo Said About ‘Emily in Paris’ Season 5
It doesn’t seem like it Luke Bravo Looking forward to season 5 on Netflix Emily in Paris.
Bravo, 36, has played Gabriel, the French chef’s handsome neighbor and love interest Lily CollinsEmily, since season 1. He reprized the role for season 4, which premiered on Netflix in August 2024, but has yet to confirm his return for the show’s fifth season.
Netflix renewed the series for season 5 in September. Since then, Bravo has spoken about the future of the series in several interviews. In conversation with the French outlet La Figaro in October 2024, Bravo expressed hesitation in playing Gabriel, citing a lack of “freedom” in the role and further doubts about his future on the show.
Bravo has expanded into roles outside of the Netflix series and is currently starring in Libre, a French heist romance film coming to Amazon Prime in November. Despite his hesitation, he told me The Telegraph on October 26 that he has no plans to leave Emily in Paris for season 5.
“[Emily in Paris creator Darren Star] is the first person to take a chance on me, and I will always be there for him,” Bravo told the outlet. “I want to tell meaningful stories. About what we talk about, not about what we look like.”

A lack of freedom
Bravo described his character’s on-again, off-again romance with Collins’ Emily as “archaic” in an October 2024 interview with Le Figaro in October, adding that he wanted Gabriel to have more “panache.”
“Life is short. It will take five months to shoot this series,” he said. “Do I want to sacrifice them by telling them something that doesn’t stimulate me?” Bravo added: “I don’t want to be part of a cog that doesn’t tend to take into account the intelligence of viewers.”
He explained as he thought about it Emily in Paris to be “good entertainment” and “an escape” for audiences, he is not a fan of the show’s “nineties idea of lovers pulling apart, kissing [and] pull apart again.”
“Everything is based on a lack of communication. It’s a bit archaic,” he noted, adding: “I don’t really have any freedom. And now that people are starting to give it to me elsewhere, I’m starting to get a taste for it.”
Disappointing storylines
Bravo expressed disappointment with the script for Emily in Paris season 5 in a September 2024 interview with She knows.
“I don’t really read what’s online, but when I read the script last season I was like, ‘I don’t really like what it’s turning into and where this storyline is going,'” Bravo explained. “You know, at the end of the day I’m just an actor, and I’m here to say my lines, but yeah, it’s a little weird.”
This differs from previous comments he made Fashion earlier this year, where Bravo raved about working with Collins in season 4, saying, “I’ve never been closer to Lily in terms of what we’ve brought to Gabriel and Emily.”
“This season is all about maturity,” he told the outlet in May. “It’s been five years since we shot Season 1 – since then some of us in the cast have gotten married, some of us have kids, or new relationships, or new apartments.”
He continued: “We really wanted to take it to the next level, not in terms of passion, but in terms of maturity and the connection between them. There are a lot of issues that have not been addressed for three seasons that we are now dealing with.”
Growing Gabriel’s hair
Bravo debuted Gabriel’s long hair in season 4 of the Netflix series and plans to continue the trend for season 5.
“I’ve been trying to have longer hair on the show since season 1,” says the Emily in Paris star said THR in September. “And since only one day passes [between seasons 3 and 4]If I need long hair for a season, I have to go through the transition phase where you have s-hair and it doesn’t look like anything.
He added, “So [I decided] to sacrifice season 4 to have long hair in season 5. I just wanted something different. I’m always clean shaven and for five months [constantly] shaving is not very nice for your skin and your soul.”
Trio final
Bravo shared one of his dumbest ideas on how to wrap up the divisive love triangle between Emily, Gabriel and Camille on the show (Camille Razat). “From what I understand, it should end in a threesome,” Bravo said Extra in August. “Everyone is happy and the world is reunited.”
However, the actor quickly clarified that he meant “throuple” instead of “threesome,” saying, “A throuple. Sorry! Bad choice of words. Or maybe not.”
