EU says it will continue rolling out AI legislation on schedule
The European Union said on Friday that it will adhere to its timeline for the implementation of its historical AI legislation, in response to a joint effort of more than a hundred technology companies to postpone the AI rules of the block, Reuters reported.
Technology companies from all over the world, including giants such as Alphabet, Meta, Mistral AI and ASML have insisted The European Commission to postpone the AI Act and to say that it will harm Europe to compete in the rapidly evolving AI-Arena.

A risk-based regulation for applications of artificial intelligence, the AI law prohibits a handful of “unacceptable risk” user cases, such as cognitive behavioral manipulation or social scoring. It also defines a series of “risky” use, such as biometrics and face recognition, or AI used in domains such as education and employment. App -developers must register their systems and meet risk and quality management obligations to gain access to the EU market.
Another category AI apps, such as chatbots, are considered “limited risk” and subject to lighter transparency obligations.
The EU started rolling out the AI act in a spread way last year, with the full rules against mid-2026.
