Elton John reveals he is partially blinded by ‘serious eye infection’

Elton John is ‘slowly’ recovering from his latest health problems.

RadarOnline.com can reveal that the 77-year-old music legend is battling partial blindness due to a serious infection.

John made the announcement in a Tuesday Instagram postwrite: “Over the summer I had to deal with a serious eye infection, which unfortunately means I only have limited vision in one eye.”

He continued: “I am healing but it is an extremely slow process and it will take some time for vision to return to the affected eye.”

John said he had been “recuperating quietly at home all summer,” adding, “[I] I feel positive about the progress I have made so far in my healing and recovery.”

In his post, he thanked the “excellent team of doctors and nurses” and his family, “who have looked after me so well over the past few weeks.”

The news came just days before the release of the retired pop sensation’s documentary, Elton John: Never too late. The Disney+ project follows John through his 49th and final birthday Goodbye Yellow Brick Road tour and chronicles the early days of his flourishing 50-year career.

John also gave his health update just a few weeks later RadarOnline.com reports this his condition was called into question when he urinated into a bottle in the middle of a shoe store in France. Apparently he had been told there was no public toilet nearby, but it was unclear whether his urgency was due to a prostate problem or some other health issue.

The Rocket man singer, who retired from touring in 2023, has had multiple medical problems in recent years, fight against pneumoniapersistent hip and knee problems, prostate cancer and type 2 diabetes. He also had a pacemaker installed after a heart problem in 1999.

John had difficulty walking onto the stage last year at Glastonbury and often has to sit at events, sometimes even in a wheelchair.

He needed hip surgery after a fall in 2021 and that happened briefly admitted to hospital after another fall at home last summer.

The singer’s weight fluctuations have also raised eyebrows. Last year, he Gained 40 poundsputting him at risk for further falls or heart attacks, and then dropped the weight again.

He joked at the time: “A lot of my shame comes from the way I gained weight. It’s been with me all my life. I’m going up and down like a damn yo-yo! But I’ve really focused on that during lockdown and I’ve had a lot of help from people at home.”

John was too seen walking with a cane after undergoing knee replacement surgery in January.
