Donald Trump responds to Sydney Sweeney as Republican, American Eagle
Donald Trump seemed delighted when he found out that Sydney Sweeney is said to be a registered Republican in the midst of further commotion about her commercials of the American Eagle Jeans. Various news broadcasts, including The guardianRecently reported that the “Euphoria” and “White Lotus” Emmy nominated her party relationship as Republican as she registered to vote in Florida in June 2024, a few months before Trump’s victory over Kamala Harris at the presidential election.
“She is a registered Republican? Oh, now I love her advertisement!” Trump told reporters July 3 during the Air Force One in Allentown, Penn. (Via The Daily Beast). “That’s right, is Sydney Sweeney …? You would be surprised how many people republicans are. That is what I would not have known. But I am glad you told me. If Sydney Sweeney is a registered Republican, I think her advertisement is fantastic!”
The advertisement Trump refers to the campaign ‘Sydney Sweney Has Great Jeans’ by American Eagle, which has inflamed indignation online about what some viewers see as American Eagle that glorifies the white heritage of Sweeney. The core of the advertising campaign creates a play on ‘great genes’, which is the most important motivation of the controversy and even has some users on social media that compares the advertisements with ‘Nazi -propaganda’.

The advertisement has caused so much chatter online that Trump’s White House weighed on the recoil, whereby communication manager Steven Cheung called the recoil a good example of “Culture Run Amok Cancel.”
“This warped, idiotic and dense liberal thinking is a big reason why Americans voted as they did in 2024,” Cheung added. “They are tired of this nonsense.”
Vice -president JD Vance also mocks liberals for creating hysteria around the American Eagle campaign and said in an episode of the “Ruthless” podcast: “My political advice to the Democrats continues to tell everyone who thinks Sydney Sweeney is attractive is a Nazi. That seems to be their real strategy.”
Vance continued: “I mean, it actually reveals something interesting about the dems, namely that you have a normal all-American beautiful girl who does a normal jeans advertisement, right? They try to sell, you know, sell jeans to children in America and they have succeeded. [Democrats] We may take that we are going less crazy. And the lesson they apparently have taken is that we attack people like Nazis for thinking that Sydney Sweeney is beautiful. “
Even Stephen Colbert, who often speaks out against Trump and the White House, called the recoil against Sweeney and American Eagle a ‘overreaction’.
As far as Sweeney herself is concerned, she still has to comment on the controversy that her American Eagle campaign has sustained. She filmed season 3 of the HBO series “Euphoria” and recently finished the red carpet during the premiere for her new indie film “Americana.”
