‘DMV’ Guest Star List Includes Leslie Jones; Jessica Camacho returns

Saturday Night Live alum Leslie Jones is one of the guest stars for Season 1 of CBS’ new comedy “DMV,” the network announced Monday. Other guest stars include Zoe Lister-Jones (“Slip”), Chelsea Frei (“The Paper”) and former WNBA player Renee Montgomery, while Jessica Camacho (“Countdown”) is set for a recurring role.

“DMV” premiered on October 13 and returns tonight for its second episode. The show, which airs Mondays at 8:30 PM ET, is a single-camera comedy set in the fictional “East Hollywood” division of the Department of Motor Vehicles — where, as the logline notes, “employees earn a minimum wage by dealing with customers who are annoyed before they even walk through the door.”

Harriet Dyer, Tim Meadows, Tony Cavalero, Molly Kearney, Alex Tarrant and Gigi Zumbado star in “DMV,” developed by Dana Klein and inspired by a short story by Katherine Heiny. The show has already received a full-season order of seven additional episodes, bringing the total to 20 this year.

In an upcoming episode of “DMV,” Jones will play the role of Sally, described as “the energetic and proud executive assistant to the director of the DMV in California. Our characters meet Sally on their road trip to the DMV holiday party in Sacramento and Barb (Molly Kearney) and Sally are kindred spirits and share a love for all things DMV has.”

Lister-Jones will guest star as Dr. Jacobs, “the entitled surgeon who has finally made time to obtain his license and is not at all happy that it is taking so long.” Frei plays Amber, Colette’s (Dyer) childhood friend “who is now an out-of-touch actress visiting the DMV to obtain her real identity.”

In her recurring role, Camacho plays Surfer Mary, “the confident and carefree love interest who meets love interest Noa (Tarrant) when she takes her driving test.” And Montgomery is ready for a cameo.

Jones’ new comedy special, “Leslie Jones: Life Part 2,” premieres Friday, Oct. 24 on Peacock; Lister-Jones’ credits also include ‘Beau is Afraid’, while Frei (portrayed by Paradigm and Untitled Ent.) also appeared in ‘Poker Face’. Camacho’s other credits include ‘All Rise’. Montgomery is co-host of “Women’s Sports Now,” a TNT basketball analyst and co-owner and vice president of the WNBA’s Atlanta Dream.

They all join previously announced guest star Randall Park (“Fresh Off the Boat”), who will appear in an upcoming episode as Beau Young, manager of the rival North Hollywood DMV.

CBS Studios is behind “DMV,” which is produced by Klein, Matt Kuhn, Aaron Kaplan, Wendi Trilling and Robyn Meisinger. Trent O’Donnell director produced and directed the pilot from a script written by Klein.
