Disney+ submits “Andor” season 2 for Emmys in 23 Categories

The uprising is in full force again.
Variety has only learned that Disney+ officially submitted the second season of his much -praised “Star Wars” series “Andor” for Emmy consideration in 23 categories. The Mouse House focuses high and places its flagship drama in top races, including Outstanding Drama Series, and also reveals the delivery selections for directing and writing entries.
Screenwriter Dan Gilroy, best known for the medal of the thriller ‘Nightcrawler’, has chosen episode 209, ‘Welcome to the Rebellion’, chosen his drama writing offer, which will compete against the Scribes Mike White (‘The White Lotus’) and Noah Wyle (‘The Pitt’). At the same time, Helmer Janus Metz will compete in the category Drama Regulations for Episode 208, “Who are you?” Faced against people like Mark Mylod (“The Last of Us”) and Ben Stiller (“Severance”).
Star Diego Luna, who also acts as an executive producer, is re -submitted as the main drama actor for his representation of Cassian Andor. Although not nominated for the first season of the show, this time the performance of Luna brings more internal conflicts and character evolution – an ARC Disney+ hope will resonate with voters. Luna will also be supported by the actor (Limited Series) for his role as boxing coach Andy Lujan in Hulu’s mini series ‘La Máquina’.
In the guest actor category, Disney+ Banking is about the versions of Ben Mendelsohn, who repeats his role as Orson Krennic in episode 211, “Who knows?”; Forest Whitaker, who returned as Saw Gerrera in episode 205, “I have friends everywhere”; And newcomer Benjamin Bratt, appears in episode 209. Varada Sethu is the only entry in the guest actress category for her performance in episode 206, “What a partying Evening”.
After the strong Emmy debut of the series, which earned eight Emmy Noms in 2023, including drama series, director for Benjamin Caron and a writing nod for maker Tony Gilroy. Disney+ wants to expand its count this year, and with “Andor” that is the most commonly acclaimed series in the “Star Wars” portfolio. In the last season, the show deepens its emotional commitment, with the highlight being the events that lead directly to “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”.
Disney+ seems convinced that this year’s Emmy campaign will resonate with voters – and they have reason to believe it will do that.
All official Emmy entries are below. Nomination votes runs from June 12 to June 23, with official nominations that are announced on July 15.
