Diddy arrested by the FBI in New York after grand jury indictment

7:13 PM PT — A law enforcement source tells TMZ… DiddyThe man’s arrest was scheduled for Tuesday. but something happened that caused the FBI to take action a day early.

However, the US attorney Damian Williams says federal agents arrested him on a sealed indictment filed by the Southern District of New York.

Diddy was just arrested and taken into federal custody in New York Monday night… TMZ has learned.

Sources tell TMZ … Homeland Security raided a downtown hotel where Diddy was staying late Monday and arrested him. We have unconfirmed reports that the FBI is searching his hotel room.

We’re told Diddy was taken to the FBI field office in Manhattan.

It appears that the action was taken in connection with the ongoing case criminal investigation in alleged sex trafficking and other crimes that led to the issuance and execution of search warrants at Diddy’s homes Beverly Hills and Miami. As we reported, a grand jury has heard testimony from several prosecutors in recent months.

Diddy’s lawyer Marc Agnifilotells TMZ: “We are disappointed with the decision to move forward with what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the United States Attorney’s Office. Sean “Diddy” Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man and proven philanthropist who spent the last thirty years building an empire, admiring his children, and working to uplift the black community.”

Agnifilo adds: “He is an imperfect person, but not a criminal. To his credit, Mr. Combs has only cooperated with this investigation and voluntarily moved to New York last week to await these charges. all the facts. These are the actions of an innocent man who has nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court.”
