Diane Keaton ‘secretly battled cancer’ before dying from pneumonia at the age of 79

Keaton has had several health issues throughout her life and has been open about her battle with cancer. Sadly, it seems the dreaded disease has returned and she has been secretly battling it.

Sources say the Annie Hall star endured years of recurring basal and squamous cell carcinoma and underwent several procedures to remove lesions.

“She never wanted pity from anyone,” a friend told Hollywood insider Rob Shuter, writing further Substack. “Diane handled it with humor, grace and total privacy.”

Friends feared her ongoing battle with cancer was weakening her immune system, leaving her vulnerable to the infection that ultimately took her life.

Three days later she was cremated in a small private ceremony without Hollywood guests.”

“She lived life on her own terms,” a longtime friend told Shuter. ‘And she left in the same way – calmly, bravely and with that dry Diane humor.’
