Destinations are lining up to host the upcoming WTTC Global Summits | News

The success of the WTTC 2025 Global Summit in Rome, Italy, has led to a wave of destinations vying to host future editions in the coming years. A record number of 15 destinations across four continents have formally expressed interest, signaling renewed confidence in the global travel and tourism sector.
The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), which represents the private sector in the travel and tourism industry, hosts an industry-leading Global Summit every year, bringing together hundreds of CEOs, ministers and investors to shape the future of one of the world’s fastest growing economic sectors.
Malta will host the Global Summit 2026, which will be held in October.
The signaling intentions of the 15 destinations are:
Bahamas, Bahrain, Canada, Colombia, Greece, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Monaco, Morocco, Puerto Rico, South Korea, Turkey and USA.
Gloria Guevara, president and CEO of WTTC, said:
“The level of interest we are seeing reflects the strength and resilience of travel and tourism worldwide. Hosting a WTTC Global Summit is a powerful statement of economic ambition. It brings together world leaders to shape policy, attract investment and drive long-term sustainable growth.”
For three days, leaders will debate technology, talent, cross-border travel, sustainability, digital transformation, workforce development and long-term investment priorities.
With global gross domestic product (GDP) in the travel and tourism sector expected to grow by 6.7% by 2025, creating one in four new jobs globally, destinations are increasingly trying to adapt to the sector’s economic revival.
WTTC will now begin a competitive evaluation process, with the 2027 host destination to be announced at the Global Summit in Malta.
