Dead City ‘renewed for season 3 with new showrunner

“The Walking Dead: Dead City” has been renewed for season 3 at AMC, Variety has learned. The news comes slightly less than a month after the final of season 2, which premiered on 22 June.
Moreover, Eli Jorné joins the Showrunner, with Seth Hoffman to help the third season of the show. Jorné developed the spin -off series and served as a showrunner since it started.
“We are grateful to Eli Jorné for two seasons of ‘Dead City’ who took the story of these iconic characters in exciting new clues and broadened this flowering universe by introducing a new corner of the Walker Apocalypse,” said McDermott, President of Entertainment and AMC Network. “While we continue to make new stories for a passionate TWD fan base, we are pleased with an experienced ‘Walking Dead’ veteran such as Seth Hoffman at the helm of a new season, in addition to the remarkable Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who will bring new opponents and alliances and bring the boundaries of the magic and Negan’s concrete.”
Hoffman was previously a writer and co-executive producer on “The Walking Dead” during the fourth, fifth and sixth seasons of the show. At that time he wrote episodes, including ‘Too Far Gone’, ‘JSS’ and ‘No Way Out’. The other TV credits of Hoffman include shows such as “House” and “Prison Break”.
Hoffman is being reputed by CAA and Hansen Jacobsen.
“I am excited to get the chance to dive back into the universe of ‘The Walking Dead’ and to work to deliver the stories of another dynamic season to this epic franchise. It is a true honor to map the next chapter for Maggie and Negan’s iconic adventures in Dead City,” Hoffman said. “Lauren, Jeffrey and Scott are incredible creative partners and I am very happy to work with them to bring this story to life.”
The production on season 3 of “Dead City” starts this fall in Boston, Ma. Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan will return as Negan and Maggie respectively.
The official description of season 3 states: “Maggie and Negan have finally put their differences aside to build the first thriving community in Manhattan since the Apocalypse, but when chaos starts to arise in the city, they are forced to question: have they learned from their old wounds or will they spend their dark past spell for the entire city?”
Cohan and Morgan are both executive producers on “Dead City” together with Hoffman. Scott M. Gimple, Chief Content Officer of “The Walking Dead” Universe, also executive produces alongside Brian Bockrath and Colin Walsh.
