‘Daily Variety’ Podcast -Summary Summary: Box Office, Venice, Telluride

During this week’s “Daily Variety” podcast, we traveled around the world for three favorite film festivals from Cinephile – Venice, Telluride and Toronto – separated by about 5000 miles.

The podcast also took a Meta twist on Thursday as “Daily Variety” -Gastheer Cynthia Littleton, Variety’S Co-editor in Chief, interviewed Eric Sandler, Chief Strategy Officer for Audio Studio Pushkin Industries, to discuss the state of the audio entertainment sector and Pushkin’s Busy Fall Slate.

Wednesday Sept. 3

In today’s episode, Daniel D’Addario discusses his cover story about actor Channing Tatum and Derek Cianfrance, who collaborated on the upcoming film “Roofman” and Bond Bond B their experience as fathers who work in creative professions. We hear from Elsa Keslassy, Variety‘S International Editor based in Paris, which completed her week at the Venice film festival and the reactions of the audience participation in the expected films such as’ The Smashing Machine’, ‘Bugonia’, ‘After the Hunt’ and ‘Wizard of the Kremlin’.

Tuesday Sept. 2

In today’s episode, Brent Lang will judge the Zombkantoor side of 2025 when the season ends. In general, the figures were on the same footing with the summer of 2024, which is not ideal, especially in view of the number of franchise films released this year. However, if there is a silver lining, this can be the unexpected success of ‘weapons’, which suggests a growing appetite for originality and performance. We also hear from Peter Debrug, Variety Main film critic, who thinks about his week at the Telluride Film Festival, where Scott Cooper’s “Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere”, three huge “Hamlet”-inspired films and Yorgos Lanthimos ‘Bugonia’ buzzz.
