Context gets $11M to build an AI-powered office suite

ContextA start-up building An AI-driven office package, announced on Wednesday that the $ 11 million collected in a seed round led by Lux Capital with participation of Qualcomm Ventures and General Catalyst. The round, that brings the total increased company of the company Up to around $ 15.75 million, values context at $ 70 million.
Founder Joseph Semrai, a Thiel Fellow, started working on context in 2024 after he realized that the current digital office suites are not well suited to take advantage of AI models.
‘[W]e have a lot of bad applications that are not necessarily built to maintain the power of [AI models] In mind, “Semrai told WAN in a telephone interview.” We want to take advantage of the fact that [models] Can understand large context windows and use multiple applications at the same time to get the best results. “
In recent years, many startups in productivity and browsing space have made user interface changes to accept a chat-forward experience, largely thanks to the rise of AI-driven chatbots such as Chatgpt. Semrai thinks that context, which is focused in the same way, can be a powerful tool for employees who use an office package, similar to how cursor has become a useful application for programmers.

Office suite makers such as Google and Microsoft have submitted AI in their applications. Canva, which has been historically in the creative space, also designs products that match all kinds of office work with AI in the center. In the meantime it is building A business workplace with an AI search and research mode.
Many of these products offer connectors for applications from third parties. But Semrai said that although connecting with sources and the collection of data is being produced, new-age tools are not always delivering opportunities that help with analysis. That, he said, is where the context comes in – it is designed to make it easier for users to reason the data they get from different sources and to make decisions based on that.
Context has a simple interface with a chat box in the middle. You can ask the AI tool to conduct research based on your documents, integrations and web knowledge. You can then ask to convert all of this into a document, spreadsheet or presentation, while you can communicate with it to generate different artifacts.
Context also offers a Python -Tolk to have your code performed.
The goal is not necessarily a fully affected office suite such as Microsoft 365 replaced. The context goes after a market that is not well operated by the current harvest of tools, according to Semrai. In contrast to many AI-driven data analysis products, the context can, for example, soon work offline, making simple analysis and document adjustments possible on the basis of existing data and documents via desktop clients of the context.
Users can try context for free with 50 credits, one workspace and 10 team members. Alternatively, they can pay $ 20 a month to get 2,000 credits without limits to workplaces and team members.
