Coldplay singer Chris Martin falls through stage hatch during stadium performance

Martin’s fall isn’t the first time Coldplay has faced complications during their ‘Music of the Spheres’ world tour.

In an Instagram post after the Marvel Stadium performance, the band announced that their bassist, Guy Berryman, would have to sit out the performance.

They told fans, “Tonight was the first time in our band’s history that we played a show without all four members on stage. Guy unexpectedly got sick right before the show. Thank you for helping us get through it.”

During the show, Martin and the rest of the band told the audience: “I have to say, thank you so much for coming to our show today. It’s a shame, but we waited until the last minute to tell you that our beautiful bass player, Guy, is very ill and will not be playing for the first time.

“I’m sorry for all of you down here waiting to see Guy. He won’t be able to play today. We’ll have a slightly different show and we’ll do our best to make it great, and I know it.” that it will be great because we are in Melbourne with all you beautiful people.”
