Christina Haack speaks to ex Ant Anstead, Renee Zellweger
Christina Haack shares how she and ex-husband Ant Anstead returned on good terms.
“When Josh [Hall] and I broke up, I hadn’t spoken to Ant in years,” Haack, 41, told her exclusively We weekly cover story Tarek El Moussa And Heather Rae El Moussa. “The whole time I was with Josh I was worried [thinking about how] Hudson’s Sports [games] are coming, we will have to be on the field together, how is Josh going to handle that?
Haack and Anstead, 45, split in September 2020 after welcoming son Hudson a year earlier. She moved on with Hall, whom she married in 2022, but the couple filed for divorce two years later.
“[After we broke up] I dropped Hudson off at Ant’s house, and he gave me a big hug and said, ‘I’m here for you and I’m so sorry you’re going through this,'” Haack recalled. Us. “He said, ‘I feel like Josh is the source of the problem [and why] I couldn’t communicate.’ Now we are back on the right track.”
The former couple are on such good terms that Anstead will also appear in her new series, The flip-offin a surprising twist. (Haack teamed up with Tarek, 43, and Heather, 37, for the new HGTV competition series. Originally, Hall was also going to be on the show, but he left The flip-off after their divorce.)
Anstead is now in a relationship with an actress Renee Zellweger since 2021. Haack told Us that she’s met the actress and calls her “amazing” — but said their friendship is different than hers with Heather. (Haack and Tarek, who split in 2016, share daughter Taylor, 14, and son Brayden, 9. Tarek tied the knot in 2021 with Heather, with whom he welcomed son Tristan in January 2023.)
“It’s not like Heather and I, where we spend a lot of time together,” Haack said. “It’s usually just on the soccer field or at the drop-off, but she’s super nice. She loves Hudson, and Hudson loves her. And she and Ant are happy.”
Haack, for her part, isn’t quite ready to dip her toe back into the dating pool. “I’m terrified of men!” she said Us. “I’m taking a break and spending time with my girlfriends and my kids.”
Despite her heartbreak, Haack said that “of course” she still believes in love. “I will always love love. I probably will [get married again] eventually,” she said. “But not anytime soon, and I would be engaged for at least five years.”
The flip-off premieres Wednesday, January 29 at 8 p.m. on HGTV.
