ChatGPT’s voice mode is no longer a separate interface

ChatGPT’s voting mode is becoming increasingly useful. OpenAI announced On Tuesday, the user interface will be updated to the popular AI chatbot, allowing users to access ChatGPT Voice directly in their chat, rather than having to switch to a separate mode.
That means you can talk to the chatbot and view its responses, including things like shared images, while you talk. Previously, you were taken to a separate screen where you interacted with an animated blue circle that represented the ChatGPT voice interface. That screen also had a mute button and an option to record live video, as well as an X to return to the standard text-based mode.
During these earlier conversations, you could only listen to what ChatGPT was saying, rather than seeing it on the screen. This can be annoying if you have missed an answer, because you have to leave the separate voice mode to see the answer as text.
Now the company says you can talk and see your answers appear as ChatGPT responds to your questions. You can also view your past messages and view visual elements, such as images or maps, in real time during your conversations.
The change will make it more natural to communicate with the AI chatbot, as you can more easily switch between voice and text in the same conversation; However, you’ll still need to tap “End” to stop the voice conversation when you’re ready to switch back to text.
This updated voice mode is the new standard and is now being rolled out to all users via the web and mobile apps.
For those who prefer the separate voice mode, OpenAI says they can still return to the original experience under ‘Voice Mode’ in ‘Settings’. Here they will see a new option to enable ‘Separated mode’.
