Chandler Jones Tried to Call Tom Brady During ’23 Run-In With Cops, Cop Video Shows
New police video obtained by TMZ Sportsshows that during a clash with the police in 2023, Chandler Jones tried to get hold of Tom Brady – with the hope that the quarterback could help diffuse a tense situation.
The heated encounter between the former NFL star and the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office ended last year on November 27 … after authorities attempted to take Jones to an Arizona medical facility after receiving a court-ordered petition for clergy healthcare.
Body-worn camera footage from responding officers shows they initially had difficulty getting Jones out of his Arizona mansion to talk to them. But as they spoke to one of Jones’ female acquaintances outside the house, Chandler emerged from his garage wearing only his underwear.
Jones talked to officers for several minutes about the woman in his driveway and accused her dogs of biting him. When asked if he wanted to press charges, he declined… and a short time later he began sobbing.
He tearfully told police he didn’t want her to get into trouble, but when an officer tried to talk to him about people’s concerns about his well-being, his behavior immediately changed.
Jones can be heard in the video telling the officer, “Get the fuck out of here…get the fuck out of here.” The two-time All-Pro then retreated back inside.
A few minutes later, Jones emerged again… and sat down as police tried to see if he was willing to see a doctor. Jones said he wouldn’t do that and then asked if he could mention his UFC superstar brother Jon Jones.
Chandler couldn’t seem to get a hold of Jon – and after a few more minutes of back and forth outside his home… an officer told him, “Mr. Jones, we need to talk about why we’re here now.”
Jones then appeared to try to run away, and a scuffle ensued. The officers and Chandler struggled on the ground for a few moments, but eventually got the former pass rusher in handcuffs and told him they were taking him to a doctor based on the court order they received.
But at one point, Chandler asked if he could call someone… and the officers let him use his iPad. Chandler first tried to call Brady, his former teammate in New England, but it appears the QB didn’t answer.
Chandler was able to sound the horn a short time later with one of his representatives – and that’s when police explained they were going to take Chandler away. When Chandler once again said he didn’t want to go, he invoked the name of his former Raiders head coach: Josh McDanielsin his answer.
After a few more minutes of going back and forth, Chandler finally got up and walked officers to a police car. According to police documents we obtained, he was transported to a nearby psychiatric facility “without further incident.”
Chandler previously addressed the incident with a video of part of the meeting on his Instagram page in December 2023.
Chandler – a 34-year-old former Pro Bowler – had been cut by the Raiders just a few months before the incident. He hasn’t played a down in the NFL since.
