Celia Imrie -Roman ‘Meet Me At Rainbow Corner’ Gengeed by Saffron Cherry

The UK’s Saffron Cherry Productions (SCP) has chosen ‘Meet me at Rainbow Corner’, the latest novel by the acclaimed actor and bestseller author Celia Imrie. The release of 2024, which is set for paperback publication by Bloomsbury on August 14, will be adapted for television.

The novel follows a group of extraordinary women who work in Piccadilly, London in Piccadilly, London during the Second World War. Against the background of bomb attacks and departure, the story describes how these women form lasting friendships while they are confronted with danger, heartache and unexpected romance. The story celebrates the courage and spirit of those who came together to end the war and merge elements of lies, spies and gis.

Joanna Lumley praised the book as “Completely charming and fascinating.”

Sally Lindsay, creative director at SCP, said: “Celia has created an exciting world of high effort, spies and romance that are all compared to the background of the Second World War. We look forward to adjusting it for television and bringing this extraordinary story to life.”

The actor has built up a formidable second career as a novelist, with her debut “Not Foundst Nice” (2015) spending six weeks in the top ten of Sunday Times. The number five reached on the Apple iBook graph and number eight on Amazon’s Book Chart. Her subsequent novels include “Nice Work (if you can get it)” (2016), “Sail Away” (2018), “A Nice Cup of Tea” (2019) and “Orpans of the Storm” (2021).

Saffron Cherry Productions is currently developing the project with a creative team aimed at honoring the historical depth and emotional resonance of the novel. The company has produced the multi-award-winning series “The World according to Grandpa” (Milkshake!) With Don Warrington, the film “King Lear” for BBC 4 and several documentaries led by women. SCP also produces “The Madame Blanc Mysteries” (Channel 5, Acorn, Netflix), which was made, partly written by and Sterren Lindsay.

Caroline Roberts-Cherry, founder and director of Saffron Cherry Productions, is a Grierson Award-winning director and Bafta-winning producer.

Imrie is represented by Curtis Brown Group, Magnolia Entertainment and Personal PR. Next to her as an actor is the adaptation of Chris Columbus by Richard Osman’s bestseller novel “The Thorsday Murder Club”, alongside Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan and Ben Kingsley.
