CBS looks to Joe Rogan for ’60 Minutes’ Shake-Up following Anderson Cooper’s departure

Kuiper leaves 60 minutes after nearly two decades, having joined the show in 2007 in a rare talent-sharing deal with its longtime home base, CNN.
“CBS isn’t looking for gentlemen anymore. They want someone who will command the room and exude dominance,” a network source previously told Shuter before the election. Anderson Cooper 360 host rescued from CBS. ‘Anderson? He is calm, attentive and precise. That is not enough under the new regime.’
“(They) want alpha. Anderson is a talented gentleman. That is no longer enough.”
Since Weiss took over CBS News in October 2025 with a mandate to avoid being “woke” and bringing a more centrist approach to storytelling, she has been hands-on with all elements of the brand.
“Bari made it clear she wanted a different tone,” an insider revealed 60 minutes. “Every script was scrutinized. Every edit was questioned. It stopped feeling like trust and started feeling like a test.”
Another source said Cooper “didn’t quit. He was pushed. When management makes things so uncomfortable, the only option left is to walk away.”
