Catherine Zeta-Jones wants Danny DeVito to play Cousin It

How does ‘Wednesday’ top Lady Gaga’s guest appearance in Season 2?
With Danny DeVito, says Catherine Zeta-Jones, who plays Morticia in the Netflix series.
Zeta-Jones’ husband, Michael Douglas, and DeVito have been friends for decades.
“I don’t understand why Danny DeVito hasn’t been cast yet,” Zeta-Jones told me Sunday at the “Wednesday” FYC event at the Netflix Tudum Theater in Hollywood. “I was with him for our anniversary in September [she and Douglas share the same birthdate, Sept. 25] and I thought, ‘Why isn’t Danny DeVito on ‘Wednesday?’
She also said, “Imagine Danny DeVito as Cousin It? That would be so cool.”
Now it’s just a matter of the Oscar winner from Chicago pitching the role to DeVito: “He’s going to kill me for that. He’s like, ‘Yeah, they’re going to cast me and put hair all over my face. Thanks for suggesting that, Catherine.'”
Zeta-Jones also reacted when she heard Lady Gaga would be filming her performance. “It was top secret. I’m not telling Michael. I’m not telling my children,” she said. “I’m a good girl, right? I don’t tell anyone. I had to deal with the fact that when it was released, my family looked at me and said, ‘I can’t believe you, that we’re the last people to know about Gaga.'”
She said she looked like a “17-year-old groupie” when she saw Gaga. “I truly believe she is a generational talent. I am so happy I got to know her [her] and I would like to work more with her on something else,” Zeta-Jones said.
Cast and crew will reunite next year to film season 3. Zeta-Jones hasn’t seen any scripts yet, but hopes to learn more about Morticia’s dynamic with her mother, played by Joanna Lumley, and how it affects her relationship with Wednesday. “I hope Wednesday comes out next season,” Zeta-Jones said. “It’s enough already. She can’t demonize her mother anymore.”
