Carrie Underwood forced to sing a capella at the inauguration after a technical glitch
Carrie Underwood turns out to be a consummate performer… after an awkward moment during her Inauguration Day performance.
Check it out… the “American Idol” alum is introduced as a singer for a performance of “America the Beautiful” that follows Donald Trump‘s swearing-in Monday morning in the Capitol Rotunda.
While the country star looks ready to wow the crowd in Washington, D.C., the inauguration technical team isn’t quite prepared… as the backing track for her patriotic tune drops before CU can utter a single word.
At first, Carrie waits for the technical problem to be resolved…while standing awkwardly off to the side with all eyes on her. However, after it becomes clear that the background music will not be played, Carrie encourages the room of politicians to join her in an a cappella rendition of the tune.
While it’s safe to say Carrie is better versed in the lyrics than the DC elite… watch the video, many stumble through the words as the “Before He Cheats” artist sings loudly into the microphone.
Maybe everyone should stick to their respective lanes!!!
As TMZ previously reported…Carrie was named one of the Inauguration Day performers days before Trump’s swearing-in. After being criticized for taking the gig, Carrie released a statement defending her decision … declaring her love for country and saying she was honored to have “a small part” in this historic day.
She encouraged others to view her choice as one made in ‘the spirit of unity’… although we’re not sure her critics online will agree.
Yet Carrie is the one who has the last laugh… because she sounded great, despite the technical drama.
