Burt Reynolds promised Loni Anderson separation would not be ‘bitter’

Anderson, who died on Sunday 3 August at the age of 79, began to date Reynolds in 1982, after the couple collaborated on the comedy Stroker bait. After a long relationship, the two made the knot in 1988.

Only five years later, their marriage broke off in a cruel public feud, where Reynolds claimed that Anderson was unfaithful and a bad mother, while she claimed that the Salvation Actor had abused her.

Before all that, Reynolds, who died in 2018, promised in his own words to amicably end the marriage.

“Our divorce will not be a bitter struggle,” he said in 2013. “There will be no common negotiations about money. Although we had marital conditions, we intend to distribute all the money and property that we have accumulated during our marriage.

“And don’t expect me to see myself on the talk show circuit and put Loni down. I have never had an unkind word to say about a woman I have been involved in, and that will not change.”
