A group of second-year master’s students from Brown University believe the school should not be blamed for the disaster shooting on campus which killed two people and injured several others.
The students, who live on and near campus and work on the east side of Providence, RI — near Brown — tell TMZ … they disagree with the narrative that the Ivy League school is somehow responsible for the mass shooting.

Instead, the students say gun control and lack of access to mental health care are the real problems here… and they say Brown can do nothing to control those things.
Additionally, students say there are overarching issues that need to be addressed at the federal level… and they feel like they are not the only school or group of students bearing the brunt of gun violence and mass shootings.

The students say hard conversations need to be had about gun control policies… and they want to see investment in making mental health services more accessible.
Law enforcement says former Brown student Claudio Manuel Neves Valente was the shooter… and the students we spoke to say Brown should not be held responsible for a former student who harbored hatred in his heart for those next to him.
