Britney Spears’ ex Jason Alexander has criticized Kevin Federline’s memoir

Britney Spears‘first husband, Jason Alexanderpublicly condemned Kevin Federline‘s upcoming tell-all memoir.

Take to Instagram On Tuesday, October 14, Alexander, who was married to Spears, 43, for 55 hours in January 2004, criticized the singer’s second husband Federline, 47, in a lengthy post accompanied by a mocking meme.

“Kevin, you can’t rewrite the story without playing your part,” began Alexander, 43. “Surprise, surprise, it leans heavily on painting Britney in a bad light. As someone who has known Britney most of her life — not just as her first husband, but as a friend who has seen what she’s been through — I can’t stay silent. Kevin, you can’t tell half the story. Not when you’re in the middle of it fed up. “

Alexander, a childhood friend who Spears married while under the influence in Las Vegas before the marriage was quickly annulled, subsequently criticized Federline for portraying himself as an “innocent bystander” in his upcoming memoir. You thought you knewwhile witnessing Spears’ “battle.”

Alexander wrote: “That’s not what happened. You were her husband. You were supposed to be her protector. Instead you partied next to her – the drugs, the alcohol, the chaos… you were there for it all. You didn’t try to pull her out – you fed off of it.”

You thought you knew is scheduled for release on Tuesday, October 21st with We weekly confirming through an exclusive source last month that Federline, who was married to Spears from 2004 to 2007, will “reveal his side of the story in depth… straight from the horse’s mouth.”

In a statement shared with Us On Tuesday, a representative for Spears claimed that Federline’s book is an attempt to profit from her. “Now that news of Kevin’s book breach has reached him, he and others are once again taking advantage of her, and unfortunately this comes after Kevin’s child support has ended,” the statement said. “All she cares about is her children, Sean Preston and Jayden James, and their well-being during this sensationalism. (Federline and Spears share sons Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden, 19.)

Alexander echoed the sentiment via his Instagram post, sending further comments directly to Federline. “You didn’t walk away empty-handed either. You walked away with full custody, child support, and a lifestyle funded by the same woman you now want to distance yourself from,” the message said. “Let’s be honest: Her pain made you a millionaire. And now you want to act like the grown man, like the man who held everything together? No. That’s not growth, that’s revision.”

Alexander then urged Federline to “tell the truth” about his part in the couple’s nearly three-year marriage. “The nights you partied. The times you turned your back. The ways you used the media and the legal system to your advantage. You played the game, Kevin. Now you just want to forget about that because it doesn’t fit the image you’re trying to sell.”

He then concluded his post by defending Spears, who he said is the victim of “men trying to take advantage of her.”

Alexander wrote before signing off with his full name: “Britney’s been through enough. Want to tell your side? Fine. But don’t pretend you were the victim or the hero. Be real. Be responsible. Because those of us who were really there — who really cared about her, not the fame — we remember how it really went. And we’re not buying the rewrite.”

Federline’s memoir contains allegations of alleged behavior by Spears while she was at home with the former couple’s children. In an excerpt published by the New York Times on Tuesday, Federline claimed, “They would sometimes wake up in the night and find her standing silently in the doorway, watching them sleep – ‘Oh, are you awake?’ – with a knife in her hand. Then she turned and walked away without explanation.

Federline discussed the intentions behind his memoir during an interview with Entertainment tonightpublished Tuesday, when asked if the book is a result of the end of Spears’ child support payments.

“Do you want to go there right away? Okay. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want this book to be a success. I wish I sold a million books or more or whatever,” he told the outlet. “Money is not the basis of this story, [and] it never was.”
