Body swapping thriller ‘Decalcomania’ uses December debut

Singapore’s Mocha Chai Laboratories and Thai Entertainment Company The One Enterprise produce ‘Decalcomania’, an eight-part mysteriethriller with a body swapping starting point.

The series, which is currently filming in Singapore and Bangkok, follows two women who mysteriously exchanges souls after a car accident. Neungdeaw Ananthikun is a 26-year-old owner of the nightclub of Bangkok with a troubled past, while Leia Woo is a social site in Singapore, protected by a pharmaceutical tycoon.

The Thai star Mookda Narinrak, who draws double duty as both characters, is the Thai star Mookda Narinrak, alongside colleague Thai actors Hussawee Pakrapongpisan, Pat Chayanit chansangavej (“Dalah”), Chai Chatayodom Hiranyatithi (“Master of the House”). The representation of Singapore comes thanks to Pierre PNG (“Crazy Rich Asians”) and Rising Talent Gladys NG, with veteran Singaporean actor Hui Fang who makes a special guest appearance.

The project has been brewing since 2021, when Singaporean maker Chai Yee-Wei (director of “Wonderland”) first devised the series with CO-maker and screenwriter Chance Wanlass. The show received a boost on the Asian Television Forum in December 2022, where executive producer Michelle Chang threw the concept at the One Enterprise.

“Everyone is talking about co -productions nowadays, but it is not an easy achievement, but it requires trust, flexibility and the willingness to break down from traditional ways to do things,” Chang said. “That is why finding a partner such as one Enterprise team, who not only respects the original vision, but is also willing to double and invest in it, has been downright inspiring.”

The creative partnership links Thai Showrunner Nipon Pewennen with a writing team led by Wattana Weerayawattana (“Thicha”), which brings development teams from both countries to make what they describe as content “made for Thai public, but with regional and international attraction.”

“The possibility of developing this story is really exceptional,” said Pewennen. “This compelling story about human experience is meant to cross boundaries and to leave a lasting impact on the public worldwide.”

The production has serious technical references, with veteran art director Pawas Sawatchaiyamet (“Monkey Man”, “Grisse”) dealing with production design and visual effects wizard Lee Stringer (“Inside the Yellow Cocoon Shell”, “Star Trek”, “Star Wars”) that VFX. Post production will be completed in the Singapore facility of MCL.

Financing comes through the international co-production subsidy of the InfoComm Media Development Authority and positions “DecalCarrania” as what the producers “call a creative bridge to link the Southeast Asian voices, cultures and passions through a powerful, shared story.”

The series will debut in December 2025 on the One31 platform of Thailand and Oneed streaming, with MediaCorp Match from Singapore with a local broadcast.

For MCL this represents a new step in the international expansion of the boutique studio. The company has previously worked with partners, including Apple, HBO Asia, Amazon and Disney+, with recent credits, including the award -winning film “Wonderland” (now on Netflix) and the international series “Venus on Mars” with CJ andM HK.

In the meantime, one company continues to position itself as the source of Thailand for premium content in multiple demography, which not only works One31, but supervises marketing for channel GMM 25 and performing popular radio stations including EFM, Green Wave and Cill Online.
