Hollywood and the world are reeling from the shocking death of Rob and Michele Reinerand now some of their best friends — Billy Crystal, Larry David, Martijn KortAlbert Brooksand more – honor the couple in an emotional, personal joint statement.
The comedy icons, who shared decades of friendship and creative history with the Reiner’s, spoke The Associated Presspraising Rob’s extraordinary career and the artistic lineage he continued.
“By imbibing everything he learned from his father Carl and his mentor Norman Lear, Rob Reiner was not only a great comedic actor, he also became a master storyteller. There is no other director with his range. From comedy to drama, from mockumentary to documentary, he was always at the top of his game. He charmed the audience. They trusted him. They lined up to see his films,” the group said in its statement.
They then highlighted his work as a filmmaker, noting the unique fingerprint he brought to projects ranging from “A Few Good Men” to “When Harry Met Sally” and “The Princess Bride.”
“His comedic touch was unparalleled, his love of getting the music of dialogue just right, and his sharpening of the edge of a drama was nothing short of elegant,” the statement said.

We broke the story… Rob and Michele were found dead in their Brentwood home on Sunday. Nick was charged Tuesday with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his famous parents. Nick faces the possibility of life in prison without parole or the death penalty if convicted on all counts.
The comedy legends say the couple’s impact on film, culture and those who loved them will be felt forever. “They lined up to see his films…” reads their statement. “He was always at the top of his game.”

As we reported… The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office Nathan Hochman says Nick faces the possibility of life in prison without parole… or the death penalty… if convicted on all counts.
Nick’s creature held without bail and is on suicide watch …and he’s hired a high-powered lawyer Alan Jackson. Nick was supposed to appear in court on Tuesday, but… he could not obtain medical clearance on time.
