Bill Sammon Named SVP, Washington DC Editorial Content for Nexstar
Bill Sammon, a veteran of Washington DC media outlets and former senior editor at Fox News Channel, has been named senior vice president at Nexstar Media, where he will oversee coverage of the nation’s capital for both The Hill and NewsNation. two of the company’s media properties.
Sammon, who left Fox News in 2021 after the channel came under scrutiny for calling early for President Joe Biden’s victory in Arizona in the 2020 presidential election, was recently tapped to help with NewsNation’s coverage of the race of 2024. He served as a liaison to Decision Desk HQ, a voter data analysis firm that guided NewsNation on its election night calls. The outlet was the first mainstream news network to call the election of former President Donald Trump.

Sammon started his journalism career as an investigative reporter for The Plain Dealer newspaper. In 1995 he moved to Europe to become a war correspondent for The Stars and Stripes, covering conflicts in Bosnia and Iraq. In 1997, Sammon moved to Washington, DC, and worked for ten years as a White House correspondent for several newspapers, including The Washington Times. Mr. Sammon has written six books about the presidency, four of which became New York Times bestsellers.
