Beerus’ enhanced anime series is ready for fall launch

An extensively remastered version of the hit anime series ‘Dragon Ball Super’ will premiere in fall 2026 under the new title ‘Dragon Ball Super: Beerus’, the franchise announced at the Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri event in Japan.

The enhanced edition features extensive visual upgrades, including new animations, revised sequences, complete re-rendition of all visuals, freshly recorded voice acting, and an overhauled musical score and sound design. The project, which started several years ago, aims to deliver a more faithful adaptation of creator Akira Toriyama’s original work through advanced visual techniques.

The announcement was made during a live stage presentation at the Makuhari Messe, featuring voice actors Masako Nozawa (Son Goku) and Koichi Yamadera (God of Destruction Beerus) along with executive producer Akio Iyoku.

A launch trailer and key visuals were unveiled at the event, showcasing the improved production values. The story follows the God of Destruction Beerus who awakens from a long sleep and takes aim at Earth after hearing about a Saiyan who defeated Frieza and set up a showdown with Goku and his allies.

The enhanced series represents a complete reconstruction of the original television anime “Dragon Ball Super”, which featured Toriyama’s original work, story concepts and character designs. The production promises increased visual immersion, especially in battle scenes.

The same event also saw the unveiling of ‘Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol’, a separate new anime series that continues the storyline following the ‘Universe Survival Arc’ from the 2015-2018 broadcasts.

The Dragon Ball franchise, which originated in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in 1984, remains a global entertainment company spanning animation, films, games and merchandise. The franchise launched “Dragon Ball Daima” in 2024 to mark the 40th anniversary of the serialization of the original manga.
