Becomes the first former US president to reach 100

In an early birthday message released by the White HouseChair Joe Biden talked about how this would be Jimmy’s first birthday without his wife of 77 years by his side.

He said, “It’s bittersweet, but we also know that she is always with you. She is in your heart; she will never leave.”

The president also praised Carter as always a “moral force for our nation and the world.”

Joe noted Jimmy’s dedication to “resolving conflicts, promoting democracythe prevention of diseases, and much more”.

He went on to call Jimmy a “beloved friend.”

The current president wrote, “Simply put, Mr. President, I admire you so very much.”
