Becky Lynch about filming ‘Star Trek’, ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ and WWE Feuds

The man (finally) returned to WWE. After getting away for almost a year, Becky Lynch made her triumphant return to Wrestlemania, where she collaborated with colleague Irishwoman and Protégé, intercontinental champion Lyra Valkyria for ladies to conquer the WWE TAG championships.

“I took what I thought would be three months off in the summer, when my contract rose,” Lych says about her absence. “I had something like:” Okay, seems like a good time to take a small break, get some things done. ” Then other things came up – I was filming ‘Star Trek’, and then ‘Happy Gilmore’ [of a return] Around rumbling time, but at the last minute I got a skin condition. The next big event was Wrestlemania, so it seemed logical, especially if I could get Bayley out of the mix and ruin her dreams. It felt double brilliant. ‘

A week after Wrestlemania, Lynch went on “Monday night raw” to the ring and familiar Bayley, so that she could replace her as Valkyria’s Mania Tag Team partner. Although Lynch and Bayley 2/4S are of an informal group of wrestlers who are known as ‘the four horse women’, she says that fans overestimate how close they are.

“When we came up,” the four horse women, “we were never a narrow alliance,” she explains. “If you’re talking about ‘The Four Horsewomen’, it is not as if we were a faction. We were ambitious women who wanted to change the game, change how things were done and seen as the biggest stars in struggling, regardless of sex.”

Even in their early days at NXT, Lynch says that she had the feeling that Bayley did not have the same profit mentality as the other horse women. “That was most of our ambition. Bayley just wanted to like as much as possible. I beat her up in 2014 and people loved it. In 2019 she hit me in the back with a chair, and we have not been friendly since then. Since then we have not been in a certain way.”

“Twice I have been called to become a member of a War Games team where I had no business in, because people wanted me to treat Bayley and they knew I could,” Lynch adds. “Now everyone is so shocked that I have attacked the woman I have fought for years? By the way, ‘damage Ctrl’ checked zero damage. Exactly zero damage was checked. Mission failed because Bayley fails with most missions.”

In the beginning it seemed that Lynch’s plan went without problems: she successfully took Bayley out of action and replaced her as tag team partner of Lyra Valkyria, and tagt tagtitels from old rivals Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez. Unfortunately for Lynch, Morgan and Rodriguez received a rematch on “Monday Night Raw” the next night, where Valkyria slid up, cost himself and the tag titles after less than 24 hours with the gold Lynch.

“Lyra can cancel all my work, loses the next day after I made her a double champion,” says Lynch. “What does someone expect from me? Of course I’m going to turn the lid around.”

Lynch is no stranger to what is needed to be a double champion: in 2019 she wrote history in the main event of Wrestlemania and the first woman to hold both the RAW and Smackdown women’s championships at the same time. As a perfectionist with a championship caliber family tree, Lynch Valkyria does not appreciate who ruined her triumphant return.

“I am the greatest female professional wrestler of all time, I am not alone,” Lynch creates. “There is documented evidence, Sports illustrated Turn off a list. Lyra was nowhere on that list. Then there was one ‘20 biggest WWE wrestles of all time“And of course I was on that list. There was no other woman on it, but I was. ‘

Tensions cooked and the competition was officially made: mentor versus protégé for the intercontinental title at “Backlash”. In a recent episode of “Monday Night Raw” Valkyria told Lynch that she already knows ” [she’s] A better wrestler than [her]’And that she hopes that she will also become a better person. Lynch has the assessment by the champion of their situation.

“Let’s look at Lyra’s track record,” Lynch holds. “Let’s dive into this, because Lyra was talking about how she is a better wrestler than me, but the first two games after she won the intercontinental title, she lost. She lost those competitions! What are you talking about? You are the best? You should have given that title.

“Then she goes and saddles next to Bayley, concludes that she will be her TAG team partner to enter Wrestlemania without considering me,” she continues. “I tried to be nice, I tried to be good, I tried to help her. I came back, I did all the nice things, although this was simmering in mind a bit. Now that you bring it up, it is coming to the boil. If I say it out loud, it is really crazy, how much I am injustice.”

As for whether or not their relationship is reduced, Lynch says that the ball is at the court of Valkyria.

“That would be on her,” says Lynch. “If you think about it, I am really the one who has been attacked time and time again. She comes here and attacks my character, tells me what a terrible person I am. I did not do her the same. I said she has been misled, that she fell under the wrong influence.

Her expectations for reconciliation? “If she is willing to sit on her knees and apologize and say:” I’m so sorry, Becky, I realize that you are the best of all time. I realize how great you are. I realize that I would have nothing in my life if it wasn’t for you. Thank you for every mororage of food, because I can eat that with the money I didn’t sacrifice. A dream that I can make.

Regardless of what her relationship with Valkyria looks like after ‘Backlash’, Lynch is ready and willing to defend her title when she becomes the new intercontinental champion of women.

“Many NXT wreststers have come to ‘raw’. Giulia, Stephanie [Vaquer] and Roxanne [Perez]They are all newer, “Lynch explains.” Of course, let them cherish in my presence. If they want to perform, I will decide for a suitable time and place, and I will assume and show them how much more they have to learn. They will benefit from it, because you learn more in the defeat than you will ever learn from a victory. “

Although Lynch is used to playing wrestlers in the ring, she was enthusiastic to see professionals at work in another medium: acting. In December 2024, Lynch revealed that she had joined the cast of the upcoming “Star Trek” Prequel series “Starfleet Academy”.

“I’m not sure how much I can give away, except that it was a great experience,” she says. “I am in the bridge team and film on the bridge, it was one of the most amazing sets I have ever been. Alex Kurtzman, the director and writer, is such a great person to work with and learn from. Paul Giamatti is there, Holly Hunter. Just being surprising.”

Although she was not a diehard fan before she boarded the series, Lynch says that she stood up in a “Trek” -Deputy Household. “I grew up when ‘Star Trek’ was one of the two shows that was on TV in Ireland, no matter what four channels we had, so it was always in the background. I can’t say that I sat down and watched, but I loved the movies. And Colm Meaney. We all love Colm Meaney, every time he went up and watching.”

As the newest member of the huge “Star Trek” Universe, Lynch, in turn, was able to introduce her own family, husband (colleague WWE roarer Seth Rollins) and the 4-year-old daughter Roux, into the world of ‘Trek’. “They came one day. Roux was a bit overwhelmed by the size of everything, I think, but it was great.”

“Star Trek: Starfleet Academy” was one of the various projects that Lynch approached during a break of wrestling. In January, she went to Instagram To reveal a surprising role in “Happy Gilmore 2”, which will arrive on Netflix on July 25.

“That cast is insane,” she says. “The world in which I played was ridiculous and beautiful and incredibly fun. The time on that set was great, seeing Adam Sandler and how he behaves like such a star in that word, but also so friendly to everyone. The atmosphere and tone he puts on the set is incredible, and then he is rewritten, things that the director is.

Lynch is not the only professional wrestler in “Happy Gilmore 2.” All Elite Wrestling’s Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) also plays a role in the film. As for whether or not she crossed the paths with MJF on the set? “I did. You know, a very nice boy. Great chats. Of course he knows he would lose [a promo battle]But we had great chats. Unfortunately it was far before this happened, but I feel that he would fully agree with everything I say about Lyra. “

“Starfleet Academy” and “Happy Gilmore 2” are not Lynch’s first trips to act. She graduated in 2012 from the Dublin Institute of Technology with a diploma Theater Arts, worked as a stunt artist on “Vikings” prior to WWE Fame, and even appeared as a wrestling enthusiast Cyndi Lauper in an episode of “Young Rock”.

“I love its collaboration, that’s what it comes down to,” she says about the acting world. “The creative cooperation with which you can get started and ideas of different people bounces and see them come to life, that you can try things. In the wrestling it is a live medium, so you get a shot to make it. Fortunately I am a kind of flour.”
