BBC to Air ‘MasterChef’ Amateur series Despite findings of misconduct

The BBC will continue to broadcast the amateur series of “MasterChef” on BBC One and BBC IPlayer from 6 August, despite misconduct results against presenters Gregg Wallace and John Torode.

In a statement from the corporation, a BBC spokesperson recognized the difficult decision and said that the network made the choice “after careful consideration and consultation with the participants.”

“MasterChef” is a great competition that is life -changing for the amateur chefs who participate. The focus has always been their skills and their journey, “said the spokesperson.

The series in question was filmed last year before the accusations of misconduct against Wallace and Torode came to light. The BBC emphasized that broadcasting the show “in no way reduces our view of the seriousness of the maintained findings against both presenters.”

“We have been very clear about the behavioral standards that we expect from those who work at the BBC or on shows made for the BBC,” the explanation continued.

The decision comes when the broadcaster weighs the impact on participants who have participated in the competition. “We believe that broadcasting this series is the right thing to do for these chefs who have given so much to the process. We want them to be well recognized and give the audience the choice to watch the series,” the spokesperson explained.

However, the fate of other programming of “MasterChef” remains uncertain. The BBC has not yet decided to broadcast the celebrity series and the Christmas special, which were filmed earlier this year. The broadcaster said that it will “confirm our plans later this year” with regard to those productions.

Looking ahead, the BBC looks trust in the future of the franchise. “The most important thing is that ‘MasterChef’ is a brilliant, loved program that is larger than a person. There are many talented, dedicated and hard -working people who make the show what it is. It will continue to flourish on the BBC and we look forward to returning stronger than ever in the future.”
