BAFTA North America postpones its inaugural awards

BAFTA North America is postponing the upcoming first BAFTA Honors until next fall.
As first reported by Variety in August, BAFTA North America’s new awards – which include one award per category in the TV, film and video game industries – were originally scheduled for Sunday, November 2. Plans to postpone the show by a year were confirmed this week.
“BAFTA North America is postponing its first BAFTA Honors to fall 2026,” BAFTA North America said in a statement to Variety. “Further details, including the date, location and awards, will be shared in the coming months. We are excited to bring BAFTA Honors to Los Angeles next year and present the iconic BAFTA mask to three leading individuals across film, TV and games.”
At the time of publication, no specific details were provided about the main reason for the postponement of the inaugural awards, which BAFTA North America had been promoting as part of its ongoing mission to grow in the US, as well as the organization’s commitment to recognizing the gaming industry on the same level as the film and TV communities.
Recently, BAFTA North America expanded its involvement in the gaming community with appearances at Games for Change in New York and Unreal Fest in Orlando, as well as the formation of a new BAFTA Games North America Committee.
