Apple might not release a truly ‘modernized’ Siri until 2027

Apple is struggling to rebuild Siri for the age of generative AI, According to Bloomberg’s Mark GurmanHe says that the company may not release “a real modernized, conversation version of Siri” until iOS 20 comes out in 2027.
That does not mean that there are no large Siri updates before that time. A new version Siri is said to debut in May – eventually with all Apple Intelligence functions that the company announced almost a year earlier.
Gurman describes this version of Siri as “two brains”, one for older assignments such as setting timers and whistles, the other for more advanced questions that use user data. A system that merges the two brains internally known as ‘LLM Siri’, is reportedly announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June prior to the launch in the spring of 2026.
And only then, says Gurman, will Apple be able to fully pursue the development of Siri’s advanced possibilities, which can then be rolled out the following year.
