Anthropic buys biotech startup Coefficient Bio in $400M deal: Reports
Anthropic has acquired stealth biotech AI startup Coefficient Bio in an equity deal worth $400 million The information And Erik Newcomer. Sources close to the deal confirmed to TechCrunch that the deal has closed, but declined to comment on the amount.
The deal comes as Anthropic continues to expand its healthcare and life sciences businesses October announcement Claude for life sciencesa tool that aims to help scientific researchers make discoveries.
Coefficient Bio’s founders, Samuel Stanton and Nathan C. Frey, launched the startup eight months ago, after both worked in computational drug discovery at Genentech’s Prescient Design. Coefficient Bio used AI to make drug discovery and other forms of biological research more efficient.
The team, which consists of approximately ten people, is expected to strengthen Anthropic’s health and life sciences team.
