Anthony Boyle Set as Bankman Fried opposite Julia Garner in FTX series

Anthony Boyle will play the leading role against Julia Garner in a Netflix Limited series about the rise and fall of FTX, Variety has learned.
Boyle will play the leading role as Sam Bankman-Gijdourd in the series, entitled ‘The Altruists’, while Garner Caroline Ellison will play. Earlier in May it was reported that Garner negotiated for the role, with the casting now officially. As previously reported, Netflix has picked up eight episodes of the series.
The official logline for ‘The Altruists’ states, ‘The story of Sam Bankman-Gruidde and Caroline Ellison, two hyper-slimme, ambitious young idealists who tried to make the worldwide financial system in an eyewenk and subsequently seduced, coaxed and teased each other to $ 8 billion.’
Graham Moore and Jacqueline Hoyt serve as executive producers and co-show runners. Garner will produce Executive in addition to the leading role. James Ponsoldt will direct the first episode and executive products. Vinnie Malhotra and Jessie Dicovitsky -Executive products for higher ground productions together with Scoop Wasserstein for New York Magazine/Vox Media Studios, Tonia Davis and Lauren Morelli.
The role brings Garner back to Netflix, where she previously played in the hit crime drama “Ozark” and the limited crime drama “invent Anna”. The last show was also a magazine Vox/New York and Netflix cooperation. She received three Emmy nominations – with three victories – for the best supporting actress in a drama for “Ozark” and a nomination for the best actress in a limited series for “invention Anna”.
The TV credits of Boyle include recent shows such as “Say Nothing” at FX, both “Manhunt” and “Masters of the Air” at Apple TV+and “The Plot Against America” at HBO. He played in films such as “Tetris” and “Tolkien”, while he was created the role of Scorpius Malfidus in “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” in the West End and on Broadway. His role in the play earned him an Olivier Award, as well as Tony and Drama Desk Award -Nominations.
He is being reputed by WME, Hamilton Hodell and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole.
FTX was founded in 2019 and became one of the largest and most famous cryptocurrency exchanges in the world. But in 2022 the company imploded, with billions of dollars of customer funds that are reportedly missing and investigations that are underway by federal agencies. Bankman-Gefruurde founded FTX, where Ellison served as CEO of the affiliated crypto-trading company Alameda Research. Both were ultimately convicted of different counts of wire and securities fraud, as well as money laundering.
