Animated series ‘Creature Commandos’ sets maximum premiere date
The animated series “Creature Commandos” has set its premiere date for Max.
The DC Studios series debuts on December 5. New episodes will then appear weekly on Thursdays. The first season consists of seven episodes and ends on January 16.
James Gunn, the co-head of DC Studios, is the writer and executive producer of the series. The official logline states that the show “follows a secret team of trapped monsters recruited for missions deemed too dangerous for humans. If all else fails…they are your last, worst option.”
The cast includes Steve Agee as Economos, Maria Bakalova as Princess Ilana, Anya Chalotra as Circe, Zoe Chao as Nina Mazursky, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Sean Gunn as GI Robot & Weasel, David Harbor as Frankenstein, Alan Tudyk as Dr. Phosphorus, Indira Varma as The Bride and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller.
“Creature Commandos” is based on DC characters and produced by DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation. Along with Gunn, DC Studios co-head Peter Safran also executive produces, along with Dean Lorey and Sam Register. Rick Morales is a supervising producer.
This will be one of the first DC television projects to release on Max since Gunn and Safran acquired DC Studios. Other upcoming shows include the live-action series ‘The Penguin’ starring Colin Farrell, which ties into Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman’. Gunn is also gearing up for a second season of “Peacemaker” starring John Cena, reprising his role from Gunn’s film “Suicide Squad.” In film, Gunn recently wrapped production on a new “Superman” film starring David Corenswet as the Man of Steel.
