‘Andor’ Season 2 Sets 2025 Release Date

“Andor” season 2 has set its premiere date for Disney+.

The “Star Wars” series, which chronicles the events leading up to the 2016 feature film “Rogue One,” will return on April 22, 2025.

The show’s first season — created and executive produced by “Rogue One” co-writer Tony Gilroy — takes place over the course of about a year in the life of the title character, Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), as he transforms from a petty criminal to a man willing to join the fight against the Galactic Empire as the remnants of the Rebel Alliance begin to form.

The 12-episode second season takes place over a four-year period, split into three-episode pods, with each pod covering a few consecutive days in each successive year before the events of “Rogue One.”

“Knowing your ending really helps,” Gilroy said while discussing season 2 at a Star Wars Celebration fan convention in London. “We know exactly where we are going. You know what you have to offer emotionally and what the story needs to do. It’s a decision that comes from survival, but creatively it’s good for us.”

“Andor” received high praise for exploring new facets of the “Star Wars” universe, delving into the lives of those previously overlooked in the franchise.

“I wanted to make it about real people,” Gilroy said Variety. “They essentially created all this IP about the royal family. It was great. But there are a billion, billion, billion other beings in the galaxy. There are plumbers and beauticians. Journalists! What is their life like? The revolution hits them as hard as anyone else. Why not use the ‘Star Wars’ canon as a host organism for absolutely realistic, passionate, dramatic stories?”
