Anantara Ubud Bali Resort Launches New Conservation Program | News

Anantara Ubud Bali Resort has introduced Where Harmony Takes Flight, a new conservation initiative to support the release of the endangered Bali starling into the Payangan jungle, where the award-winning resort is located. Guests were recently invited to witness the inaugural release, an experience that honors the island’s cultural and environmental heritage.
The Bali Starling, or Jalak Bali, is one of Bali’s most treasured species and a rare symbol of the island’s natural beauty. The program reflects Anantara Ubud Bali Resort’s commitment to sustainable travel, cultural preservation and meaningful guest experiences that connect travelers to Bali’s living traditions.
The initiative was created by Made Warnata, Director of Spa, Wellness and Recreation at Anantara Ubud Bali Resort. Guided by his deep connection with Balinese culture and nature-based wellbeing, he collaborated with leading conservation organizations including Yayasan KEHATI, the Indonesian Foundation for the Protection of Biodiversity, and Balai Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam (BKSDA), the government agency responsible for the conservation of wildlife and ecosystems.
Anantara Ubud Bali Resort currently supports two pairs of Bali Starlings, cared for under expert supervision. The next pair will be released on April 22 for Earth Day, allowing a gradual adaptation process and contributing to the species’ long-term recovery. The Bali Starling is known for forming lifelong bonds and requires responsible breeding and structured releases to support its future survival.
“The Bali Starling is a symbol of Bali’s natural beauty and a reminder of what needs to be protected,” said Made Warnata. “This initiative reflects our belief in conservation that is carried out with intention, respect and strong collaboration with local managers.”
Where Harmony Takes Flight aligns with Anantara’s global sustainability program Dollar for Deeds, which allows guests to support and participate in conservation projects and community programs at all its hotels and resorts worldwide.
