American Music Awards return to Las Vegas at new location

After returning in 2025 after a nearly three-year hiatus, the 52nd American Music Awards will return to Las Vegas to be broadcast live from a new venue, the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Like last year, Dick Clark Productions and CBS are bringing back the AMAs on Memorial Day, May 25, and will broadcast the event live on CBS at 8:00 PM ET and 5:00 PM PT. The ceremony will also be streamed and made available on demand by Paramount+.
The nominations for this year’s AMAs will be announced on April 14. That same day, fans can start voting for their favorite artists and music until the window closes on May 8. Additional details, including artists, presenters and ticket sales, will be announced in the coming weeks.
In 2025, the AMAs hosted their first live ceremony since 2022, when they aired from Los Angeles on ABC in the fall. The 2022 show earned a 0.6 rating among adults in the key 18-49 demographic and had 3.53 million total viewers, a record low for AMA viewership. But last year the series made an impressive comeback, averaging 5.2 million viewers, its biggest showing since 2019.
At the event, hosted by Jennifer Lopez at Fontainebleau Las Vegas, Billie Eilish was the night’s big winner with a sweep in all seven nominated categories, while Beyoncé, Bad Bunny and Eminem each took home two awards.
Last August, CBS announced it would extend its partnership with Dick Clark Productions through a new five-year deal to hold the AMAs on the network and Paramount+ starting in 2026.
The AMAs were created by Dick Clark for ABC in 1974 after the network lost the deal to broadcast the Grammys to CBS. The AMAs originally aired in January or February until the switch to the 2003-2022 Thanksgiving season.
Variety parent company PMC owns Dick Clark Prods. in a joint venture with Eldridge.
