American Airlines partners with award-winning Pecan Lodge to serve Texas barbecue on select flights | News

Starting next month, customers on board select American Airlines flights can enjoy an authentic taste of Texas en route to New York as the airline partners with the nationally recognized Pecan Lodge restaurant to serve Texas barbecue on board.

Since its founding in 2010, Pecan Lodge has been honored by the Food Network, New York Times, Travel + Leisure and more for its traditional Central Texas-style barbecue, which will hit the airwaves for the first time thanks to this partnership with American.

This February, First Class passengers on flights from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to LaGuardia Airport (LGA) and John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) can enjoy an authentic Pecan Lodge barbecue casserole with brisket and smoked sausage, paired with creamy mac and cheese and crispy coleslaw. In March, American will offer a chopped brisket sandwich with roasted green beans and creamy potato salad.

Both options – served with Pecan Lodge’s famous barbecue sauce, of course – can only be reserved through aa.com or American’s mobile app starting January 11.

“As we celebrate American’s centennial anniversary in 2026, we look forward to delighting our customers in new ways that celebrate unique regional flavors, starting right here in our home state through one of the most beloved barbecue restaurants in Texas,” said Rhonda Crawford, American’s SVP of Customer Experience Design and Strategy. “Our customers deserve nothing but the best, and Pecan Lodge certainly delivers that.”

The partnership with Pecan Lodge is the latest in American’s commitment to improving the customer experience, having recently partnered with Champagne Bollinger and Lavazza coffee both in lounges and in-flight. This month, American also began rolling out free Wi-Fi for AAdvantage® members, sponsored by AT&T.
