Amazon deploys its 1 millionth robot, releases generative AI model
After putting robots in his warehouses for 13 years, Amazon reached a new milestone.
The Tech Kolos now has 1 million robots in its warehouses, the company Announced on Monday. This one millionth robot was recently delivered to an Amazon Fulfillment facility in Japan.
That figure puts Amazon on schedule to reach another milestone: the huge network of warehouses can soon have the same number of robots as people, according to people Notification from the Wall Street Journal. The WSJ also reported that 75% of Amazon’s worldwide deliveries are now helped in one way or another by a robot.

The company also announced that it spends a new generative AI model called DeepFleet for its warehouse robots. According to Amazon, this AI model, which can coordinate the routes of the robots within the company’s warehouses, will increase the speed of its robot fleet by 10%.
The company used Amazon Sagemaker – the AWS Cloud Studio that helps to build and implement AI models – to make deepfleet. Amazon has trained the model on its own warehouse and stock data.
Amazon’s One Millionth Robot represents more than just a few. The company has improved robots in recent years and added new possibilities and models.
In May the company unveiled its latest robot, Vulcan. This model has two arms, a designed for rearranging the inventory and another with a camera and suction cup to grab items. The most striking thing is that these Vulcan robots have a feeling of “touch” with which, according to Amazon, it can feel the items it takes.
In October 2024, the company announced its next generation of fulfillment centers, which would include 10x as many robots as their current facilities, alongside human employees. The first of these new robot -like centers opened shortly thereafter in Shreveport, Louisiana, near the border with Texas.
Amazon originally started to build his robot options in 2012, in addition to the acquisition of KIVA systems.
