Following the success of its debut last year, One&Only One Za’abeel has unveiled the second edition of AMASSI by Moroccan-French designer Selma Benomar.
The region’s haute couture-inspired Ramadan tent is the place where artistry, cultural heritage and contemporary luxury come together.
Named after the Arabic word meaning ‘the time from noon to sunset or midnight’, AMASSI has established a distinctive place in Dubai’s Ramadan landscape.
More than a dining destination, it is a curated environment where fashion, culture and the spirit of Ramadan intersect, offering guests a sophisticated setting to gather, reflect and celebrate throughout the holy month.
Recommissioned for the second consecutive year, AMASSI returns with an evolved vision led by kaftan designer Selma Benomar, known for her modern interpretations of Moroccan heritage.
Benomar reinterprets the tent as a continuation of her design practice, translating the techniques and hand-applied details from her collections into an immersive interior experience.
“For this year’s AMASSI by Selma Benomar Ramadan tent, I wanted the space to feel like a continuation of my work.
“The idea was to use the same craftsmanship, techniques and attention to detail as in a couture piece and translate them onto the walls of the tent,” says Benomar.
At the heart of the space is a fully embroidered feature wall, inspired by nature.
Flowers, birds and butterflies appear to grow and move across the surface, echoing the way embroidery comes to life on the fabric.
Built in layers, it creates depth, softness and texture while reflecting time, craft and the quiet beauty of slowly made things, a feeling deeply connected to the spirit of Ramadan.
The surrounding walls are hand-sculpted in plaster, inspired by floral couture appliqués and three-dimensional embroidery techniques.
Patterns rise and fall across the surfaces, creating movement and heat. Each element is shaped by hand, making the space feel alive and intimate.
By bringing couture techniques into interior design, AMASSI becomes more than a Ramadan tent; it will be an atmosphere where craftsmanship, heritage and modern design come together naturally, creating an environment that feels culturally rooted and contemporary.
AMASSI celebrates One&Only One Za’abeel’s connection with fashion and culture and continues to embody the resort’s spirit of innovation and refined luxury.
