All3Media sells ‘protection’ to Britbox, US and Canada, TVNZ

All3Media International, the sales arm of the UK Giant production distribution behind hits such as “Fleagag” and “Midsomer Murders”, has concluded important deals in several areas for the six -part thriller of new photos, “Protection”.
Sales follow the acclaimed British debut of the witness protection series on ITV and ITVX. One of the new pacts are a deal with digital rights with Britbox for the US and the English -language Canada; Digital rights to Stan in Australia; TV -Rights on TVNZ in Nieuw -Zeeland and DVD/Video -Rights on ABC for Australia and Nieuw -Zeeland.
In the meantime, BBC Studios has picked up “protection” in a pan-territory deal that includes Asia, India and the Indian subcontinent, where the drama will first stream on BBC, its Premium SVOD drama channel and his SVOD service, BBC player.
“Protection” has also been arrested in the Nordic areas, including Denmark (DR), Norway (NRK), Iceland (RUV), Sweden (SVT) and Finland (Yle).
Further deals from TV rights include acquisitions in the Netherlands (NPO), Greece (Hellenic Telecommunications), Israel (Hot and Yes TV) and EIRE (Virgin Media), while Dazzler Media DVD/Video rights for the VK and EIRE has signed.
“Protection” is based on the real experiences of a seasoned witness protection officer and investigates the consequences when the system falls short. The story follows on detective inspector Liz Nyles (played by Siobhan Finneran), who, entangled in an affair with a colleague, becomes entangled in corruption within her own unity. With everything at stake – her own redemption, the reputation of her beloved and the safety of the witnesses she protects – she is driven to fight back and restore the integrity of the system.

“Protection” is inspired by a concept developed by an expert in the field of witness protection who spent 30 years with the metropolitan police. During his career he managed various high -profile matters and protected a series of informants, including war criminals, terrorists and various other perpetrators.
Extra casting includes Barry Ward (“Bad Sisters”), Chaneil Kular (“Sex Education”), David Hayman (“Sid and Nancy”), Nichola Burley (“The Gold”) and Akiya Henry (“Silent Witness”).
New photos co-founder and CEO Willow Grylls (“The Missing”, “The Long Shadow”) and Charlie Hampton (“The Spanish Princess”, “The Deceiveded”) serve as executive producers alongside Elaine Pyke and writer Kris Mrksa.
The series is produced by Rebecca Davies (“Cobra”), line produced by Tracy Chapman (“Cobra”), and directed by Simen Alsvik (“Fenris”, “The Nest”) and Sasha Ransome (“Cobra”, “McDonald & Dodds”).
It is written by mrksa (episodes 1, 3 and 6), Polly Buckle (episodes 2 and 4) and Giula Sandler (episode 5).
