A medical scare stopped the show at KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas briefly when frontman All-American Rejects, Tyson Ritterabruptly cut off the band’s finale mid-song to help a fan who collapsed in the crowd.
TMZ has obtained a video showing the band halfway through “Gives You Hell” at the packed LA Kia Forum, when Ritter suddenly stopped the music, grabbed the microphone and pointed to the pit, alerting security that a woman had fainted and needed help.
In front of thousands, Ritter calmly told the crowd to clear space and help her, then added a little holiday improvisation, urging someone to get the woman “Twinkies or sugar or Christmas gum or gingerbread house pieces” to help her. Ritter also shouted, “Are you okay?” as he looked at her from the stage.
Once the woman was safely removed from the crowd and the situation was resolved, Ritter jumped back into the chorus and finished the song.
The Emergency became one of the evening’s unexpected highlights at the annual holiday concert, which featured a stacked lineup that included Third Eye Blind, Evanescence, Papa Roach, Yellowcard, Social Distortion and Rise Against.
And in classic, near-acoustic fashion, the audience received one final gift… a surprise performance 4 non-blondes.
