Alexis Bledel, Elisabeth Moss Direct

Blessed are the Emmys rulebook, but it must need a serious update.
With “The Handmaid’s Tale” after taking his last arch, Hulu has confirmed his official Emmy entries for the much -praised drama, with one entry in particular already causing waves.
Variety has only learned that the streamer Alexis Bledel has submitted in the Guest Drama Actress category for her appearance in the Serief final (“610 – The Handmaid’s Tale”), despite a newly maintained Emmy rule that disqualified actors who were previously nominated in a lead or supporting category for the same show. Bledel won the Emmy for guest in 2017 and collected two extra noms in the same category in 2020 and 2021. However, in 2018, after appearing in seven of the 13 episodes for a season, she was not eligible to compete as a guest; She was submitted and eventually nominated for supporting drama actress. The annual recognition for her character, or Glen, seems to fall beyond the boundaries of suitability, but the streamer is hopeful that the TV academy will consider its circumstances.
Insiders say that Hulu expects the TV academy to be redesigned by Bledel’s entry with a supporting drama actress before the ballot papers are opened on 12 June. But from now on no decision has been made.
The rule is intended to clarify what a “guest” star defines. According to the new guidelines, every actor who has previously been nominated for a series in a leading role or supporting role can no longer be considered as a guest, regardless of how short they appear in the new season of the series.
The policy has already attracted broad criticism and confusion. Meryl Streep, for example, was not taken into account for guest consideration for turn in Hulu’s “Some murders in the building” – despite the fact that they appear in just four episodes – and instead compete in the supporting comedy actress category because of her previous NOM. In the meantime, Paul Rudd, who played a new character in the same series, almost eligible as a guest, but was too much in one episode, so that inconsistencies were exposed to the changes.
The guidelines have created more ambiguity than clarity. There should be a fundamental difference between a large series of lead that tries to go and an old supporting player who only occasionally appeared in a new season.
Voting in the industry claims that the change is punished unfair artists with a limited screen time that have been recognized earlier – especially when those performances are not very much. Some believe that this growing recoil will encourage the Emmy to consider revisions prior to future cycles.
Despite the control conflict, “The Handmaid’s Tale” still remains a formidable force in this year’s Emmy race. The drama, which concluded his six-season run on Monday, has achieved 76 nominations and 15 victories during his lifetime-included a historic excellent drama series victory in the first season, the first ever for a streaming platform.
This year, Hulu has submitted 36 submissions for the show in both primetime and creative art categories. Remarkable acting entries include Elisabeth Moss for lead actress and for helping the penultimate episode, “Execution”, which is somewhat surprising, given the long -term shows often reserve their latest episodes for consideration. However, the episode that sees the shocking dead of many favorite characters is more visually more striking, screaming with June: “Don’t let the bastards look down” while hung up.
In addition, Bradley Whitford, Max Minghella and Ot Fagbenle will compete in the supporting actor Race, while Yvonne Strahovski, Samira Wiley and Ann Dowd Love are looking for supporting actress. Substutions of the guest actress Beyond Bedel include Emmy winner Cherry Jones (episode 602) and D’Arcy Carden (episode 608).
