Alexander Brothers found guilty of sex trafficking

Brothers Tal and Oren Alexander made a name for themselves in the luxury real estate industry before they were indicted.

Ex-luxury real estate agents and brothers Tal and Oren Alexander have been found guilty of federal sex trafficking charges, a New York jury ruled Monday.

The jury found the two brothers – as well as Oren’s twin brother, former security official Alon Alexander – guilty of all 10 charges brought against them by prosecutors. The verdict came late Monday at the end of a five-week trial in which 11 women testified that they had been sexually abused by one or more of the men. Prosecutors said the attacks followed a “playbook” the brothers had developed over the years.

The alleged victims, who numbered in the dozens, said the men lured women to luxury properties and other locations. The brothers often handed the women drinks, after which they lost control of their bodies or had difficulty remembering what happened next, alleged victims also said. For more than a decade between 2008 and 2021, prosecutors and victims said the Alexanders coordinated attacks on the women at locations across the U.S. and abroad.

The brothers faced several charges, including conspiracy to commit sex trafficking and sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion.

All three pleaded not guilty to the charges and have maintained their innocence since the case began in 2024.

As the jury foreman read the guilty verdict, Oren shook his head and Tal bowed his head as well. CBS News reported. The brothers’ parents, Orly and Shlomi Alexander, were also present in the courtroom, and a family friend reportedly rubbed Orly’s back as the verdict was read.

The brothers were arrested in Miami in December 2024 after the FBI began investigating allegations also made in civil lawsuits filed by dozens of women in the spring and summer of 2024. The civil cases came after an extension of the New York City Gender-Motivated Violence Act.

A search of Tal’s luxury New York apartment at 432 Park Avenue in 2024 found a hard drive with explicit videos on it, a damning piece of evidence that prosecutors used to show how the brothers took advantage of women while they were clearly incapacitated.

Lawyers for the brothers tried to portray the alleged victims as opportunists seeking to gain financially from lawsuits against them. They also argued that although the brothers’ behavior was reprehensible, their encounters with women were consensual.

The defense also sought to point out inconsistencies in the alleged victims’ testimonies, pointing out that evidence — including toxicology, medical and police reports — from the time of the alleged attacks was limited.

All three brothers face life in prison, with a minimum of fifteen years. Judge Valerie Caproni of the Southern District of New York will hold a sentencing hearing on August 6.

U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton commented on the verdict Monday, saying it was “an important step in our fight against sex trafficking.”

“The verdict comes after a weeks-long trial in which evidence and testimony from 11 courageous victims established that the Alexander brothers conspired to repeatedly lure, drug and rape young women,” Clayton said in a statement. “These are horrifying, despicable and unacceptable acts. We commend the victims for their courage to come forward and testify at trial. They courageously overcame the pain of reliving the abuse inflicted on them and, as a result, prevented others from being victimized.”

Clayton also praised the jury for its dedication to the case and the efforts of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights and Human Trafficking Unit, as well as the FBI-NYPD Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force.

“This verdict cannot undo the consequences of the horrific abuse suffered by the many victims of the Alexanders, but it does send a message: New Yorkers want to end sex trafficking in all our communities.”

Tal and Oren Alexander, sons of prominent Miami developer Shlomi Alexander, made a name for themselves in New York City by becoming top agents at Douglas Elliman from 2012 to 2022. The brothers helped broker one of the most expensive home sales ever in the U.S.: billionaire Ken Griffin’s purchase of a $238 million penthouse at 220 Central Park South in 2019.

The brothers then teamed up with three other co-founders to found Official Partners, powered by white-label company Side. As allegations mounted against them in 2024, the brothers stepped out of their leadership roles at the company, and the brokerage ultimately failed as the other co-founders left amid failed exit negotiations for the brothers.

Last week, celebrity real estate agent and former Douglas Elliman agent Tracy Tutor filed a civil lawsuit against Oren, alleging sexual assault and human trafficking during a Douglas Elliman recruiting event she attended in 2014.
