Air Canada expands its presence in Mexico with the new Montréal-Guadalajara route | News

Air Canada has announced it is strategically expanding its summer flights to Mexico, with 18 percent more seat capacity than last summer. As Canada and Mexico strengthen ties, the airline is strengthening its schedule to support the growing number of trips to and from Mexico.

Highlights of Air Canada’s Mexican network growth include the addition of new year-round flights from Montreal to Guadalajara, as well as increased frequencies to Cancún, Monterrey, Mexico City and Puerto Vallarta, four destinations in high demand among Canadians and international travelers alike.

Air Canada offers more daily flights from Britain to Canada than any other airline, connecting customers from London Heathrow to six major Canadian cities including Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary, Ottawa and Halifax. From here, customers can connect to a flight of their choice to take advantage of Air Canada’s impressive network across Mexico.

“We continue to expand Air Canada’s far-reaching and diversified global network with enhanced connectivity between our hubs and cities across Mexico. Since 1954, Mexico has been a key part of our global network, and this summer, Air Canada’s added capacity will further strengthen the long-standing tourism and commercial ties between our two countries. Capitalizing on growing passenger and cargo demand, we will offer a new year-round service between Montreal and Guadalajara and expand capacity to other sought-after destinations across the country,” said Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, and President of Cargo at Air Canada.

“Air travel facilitates tourism, trade and connectivity, and Mexico is part of Air Canada’s broader Latin American strategy to enable fast, convenient passenger and cargo connections through our Canadian gateways to our extensive network across all six inhabited continents. We are proud to offer our customers and Aeroplan members attractive options to travel and ship cargo to Mexico from almost anywhere in the world,” concluded Mr. Galardo.

Air Canada presence in Mexico

Air Canada first flew to Mexico in 1954 when flights operated from Montreal and Toronto to Tampa to Mexico City.

Today, Air Canada connects Canada and Mexico year-round, increasing to 30 nonstop flights during the winter peak season from eight Canadian cities to 11 destinations in Mexico.

In addition to direct flights between Canada and Mexico, Air Canada Mexico also conveniently connects Europe and Asia worldwide through its hubs in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver.

For summer 2026, Air Canada plans to operate ten daily flights from our three global hubs to five destinations in Mexico, providing 1,700 daily seats one way and an 18 percent increase in seat capacity compared to summer 2025.
