A look inside Kelly Clarkson’s bedtime relationship with children following the death of her ex-husband

Kelly Clarkson gives fans a heartfelt look at how she helps her children cope with the death of their father, Brandon Blackstock.
In a recent Q&A session on The Kelly Clarkson Show YouTube channel, the singer shared that her favorite daily joy is spending quiet time with daughter River and son Remy, RadarOnline.com can report.
Clarkson, 43, said she likes to “cuddle” with her children.
“My kids are 9 and 11. Kind of a special little stage where they can wipe their own butts, but they’re still small enough to love hugging and cuddling,” the singer said on Saturday, January 10.
“A lot has been happening for our family lately, so I let my kids sleep with me for a while,” she explained. “So it’s my two dogs, my two kids and me. It was really special though because the conversations you have during that time are kind of cute. So that’s probably my favorite time of day.”
Blackstock, who died in August 2025 at the age of 48 after a three-year battle with melanoma, remained part of their children’s lives despite a messy divorce.
A source shared with the outlet that Clarkson is “not half-hearted about it. She made a whole list of what she wants in a man and texted it to a bunch of friends, including an ex-mother-in-law. Reba McEntireformer mentor Simon Cowell, and close friend Jennifer Aniston.”
“Kelly has some very specific things on the list,” the insider added.
“Ideally, she wants a man who already has children so she can see his father’s skills in action, as he will eventually have to play that role for her children if all goes well.”
“Kelly doesn’t care about a potential partner’s job or salary,” the source continued.
The talk show host is still worth an estimated $50 million following her controversial and costly divorce.
The source said: “She has more money than she will ever need and doesn’t want that to get in the way of finding love.”
