A distinctive new look for the Royal Livingstone Hotel | News

The Royal Livingstone Victoria Falls Zambia Hotel by Anantara has unveiled an extensive revamp of 93 rooms, including four Junior Suites. This improvement marks a new chapter for the 25-year-old property and cements its position as a preferred destination for luxury travelers with close proximity to Victoria Falls.

New accommodation

The renovation introduces modernized room categories, including the Deluxe Zambezi River Balcony Rooms, Grand Zambezi River Terrace Rooms, the all-new Grand Zambezi River Balcony Rooms and four Junior Suites. Each space has been redesigned to retain the iconic safari Victorian character whilst introducing a contemporary Zambian aesthetic. The design palette reflects the earth tones of the surrounding wilderness, utilizing updated textiles and explorer accents to create a seamless transition between interior comfort and the rugged beauty of the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park.

The more luxurious bathrooms now feature separate bathtubs and rain showers, in addition to new amenities and modern fixtures. The technology in the rooms has also been taken to the next level with the addition of flat-screen televisions, improved WiFi and advanced climate control systems. To take advantage of the unique riverside location, the private balconies and terraces have been fitted with new furniture and large doors have been opened for a clearer view of the Zambezi, making it a tranquil place to read or enjoy a drink.

Wellness integrated

The wellness experience is anchored in the riverside gazebos of Anantara Spa. Tucked within the manicured poolside gardens, these four secluded shrines have large glass doors that open onto nature, allowing the scent of the gardens and the sound of the water to enhance each ritual.

A central highlight of the treatment menu is the Nalikwanda Lozi Journey, which pays tribute to the Kuomboka ceremony. It starts with a hot stone massage to represent the earth during the dry season, followed by a moisturizing facial to reflect the journey on the royal ship. The ritual concludes with a spa pedicure, honoring the arrival of a revitalized traveler. These lavish treatments are available to both residents and members of the public seeking luxurious self-care.

The culinary journey

The resort’s culinary journey celebrates the spirit of Zambia and fresh produce. Kubu Deck offers an authentic African feast under the stars, on the banks of the Zambezi with spectacular views of the mist of Victoria Falls. For those looking for a quiet break, Anantara’s Designer Dining offers a private breakfast on the jetty overlooking the water or in the shade of the monkey tree or a Royal High Tea.

Exciting activities

Adventure remains easily accessible for those who want to explore beyond the resort’s gardens, where giraffes roam freely. Board the Royal Livingstone Express, a restored steam locomotive, where guests are treated to a train journey that revives the romance of historic travel. As guests roll through the city and over the Victoria Falls Bridge, they are served a gourmet five-course dinner. For a different kind of thrill, the Batoka Canyon picnic begins with a private helicopter flight over the dramatic terrain before descending into the heart of the gorge for an exquisite meal on a secluded sandbar.

“This renovation successfully balances our deep respect for the hotel’s 25-year heritage with the evolving expectations of the modern luxury traveler,” said Laurie Burr, Area General Manager. “By combining comfort with authentic Zambian soul and warm African hospitality, we have ensured that The Royal Livingstone Hotel remains a timeless retreat on the banks of the Zambezi.”
